I just came across your book, which I am devouring. Thanks for sharing your story. Though I am not in the medical field and I did not go into a war zone, I understand many of the feelings you experienced there. I was in Ghana for 5 months and I have just returned to the U.S.A. 2 months ago. Since I have quite a bit of “flesh” on me, the children in the orphanages loved to touch my “fat”. I used to say, “No, No” but they always replied with, “I love it”. In those moments I would feel badly and ashamed of myself considering they suffered from malnutrition.

I will soon return because I cannot stay far away from them. In fact, I dream of them every single night. I absolultely must return as I promised them before I left.
