I just finished the book this afternoon. I live in America (Florida) and I had to have the book shipped in from Canada because I was couldnt wait (not out yet in the states) And I loved it. I recomend it to anyone. I liked this one in a different way, more, than other books I've read from other aid workers, because its one mission, one period of time, one journy, and it let you see all the journies it takes to finish that one. I feel like I know these people in the book, and oddly after finishing it I feel like I miss Abyei, a place I've never seen but miss, there is a whole world between those covers.

The distances is closing.

(p.s. James, I have never heard of GOAL untill this book, and looked them up, I've heard of a late of aid groups, not them, the site says they have an opening in Abyei Sudan, lookin to go back? haha, I appreciated the coincidence)

hi there james,
i think 'telling the story' is certainly a tangible good, but it is NOT good enough.
i am sure you will continue to work hard to help your patients, and, importantly, advocate for change in the sudan and at home. bearing witness is hugely important, and opens the eyes of others, and gets people motivated to do there own advocacy work.
kudos for publishing your experience.
